Zelda Sayre was born into a prominent Montgomery family and grew up in the city before meeting F. Scott Fitzgerald.
The house
The Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald Museum preserves the Montgomery home where the couple lived in the early 1930s. It is one of the few surviving houses associated with both writers.
More than celebrity nostalgia
Their relationship involved ambition, mental illness, art, drinking, conflict and competing creative identities. The house is most interesting when it resists simplifying them into a glamorous Jazz Age couple.

The museum fits naturally into an Old Cloverdale day because the neighborhood supplies the scale and residential setting that downtown history does not.
